Content: High energy, interactive, lots of visual demonstrations assembly-style program that works well for large groups. Great for in-house field trips, school assemblies, church events, scouting groups, birthday parties. Topics may include physics, chemistry, temperature, electricity, the scientific method, gravity, friction, combustion (small contained explosions or fire). Let me know if there is a specific topic, listed or not, you want to highlight for your group.
Program Length: 45 Minutes
Participants: Great for any size group, the only limitation is the size of your space!
Please Provide: Access to electricity
Content: Take a trip into space with the Kids After Hours planetarium! This inflatable dome is your ticket to learning about our solar system and beyond. Program topics are variable, and can include information about the moon, our solar system, stars and constellations, space travel, light pollution, black holes, and astronomy science. Great for classrooms, scouting groups, STEM fairs, and special events!
Program Length: Variable, depending on your needs. I can do 10 minutes (great for STEM fairs), 20-30 minutes (perfect for classrooms cycling through), or 45 minute programs (great for smaller groups that want to dive deep)
Participants: I can only fit 25-30 people inside the planetarium at once. For a group of 100 people we must do four rotations to get to everyone.
Please Provide: Access to electricity, a large room with a high ceiling (The planetarium needs about 15ftx15ft of floor space, and at least 10ft high ceilings)
Content: Let’s meet some scaly reptiles! An informative assembly-style show with hands-on opportunities. Animals include snakes, lizards, turtles and/or tortoises. You’ll be able to interact with the animals when it is safe to do so. Wonderful choice for classroom programs, scouting groups, birthday parties, and STEM fairs.
Program Length: 30-60 minute long programs, depending on your needs
Participants: Best for groups smaller than 50
Please Provide: Electricity access for groups over 20 people (for my sound system)
Content: Let’s dig deep into the past and learn about dinosaurs! This program includes talking about dinosaurs, how they might have lived and died, and how they were preserved as fossils. Then there are a few options:
Digging for “fossils” (chocolate chips) in a “dig site” (cookie)
Sifting through a sandbox looking for real fossils the kids can keep
Option one is great for larger groups as everyone can do this simultaneously (and yes, they can eat the cookies!). Option two is great for smaller groups or breaking a larger group into rotations. Regardless of which option we go with, all students will get a chance to see and touch real fossils and meet Sarah, a baby Triceratops. This program is best for classrooms, scouting groups, and birthday parties.
Program Length: 30-45 minutes
Participants: Best for groups smaller than 50
Please Provide: Tables and chairs for everyone to sit at, knowledge of any allergies
Content: 3, 2, 1, lift off! Learning about physics is a blast when building water rockets! Using a 2-liter bottle, some water, and compressed air, students will get to design, build, and then launch their very own rocket! We will start by assembling the rockets in teams, then going outside and shooting their creations into the sky. Great for classrooms, birthday parties, scouting groups.
Program Length: 30-45 minutes, depending on your group size.
Participants: Any size, but if the group is larger than 50 we might make some adjustments.
Please Provide: Area to build rockets (preferably inside at tables), large outdoor area away from trees and buildings, access to water for the rockets
Content: Let’s go for a walk! Spending time outside is the best way to learn firsthand knowledge of this amazing world around us. I can guide a hike at your school, church, or a local park! If you have a particular topic you’d like to focus on that’s great, otherwise I’m happy to just lead and see what we can find. We can go on a bug safari, nature scavenger hunt, habitat investigation, birdwatching, creek studies, and more! Letting kids explore nature is great, so please be prepared to get messy, be uncomfortable, and get immersed in the environment. Great for classrooms, scouting groups, or any group interested in learning more about the outdoors. Not just for kids! I’m happy to lead a nature walk for all ages!
Program Length: As long as you like, but usually around 45 minutes
Participants: Best for 30 or fewer people
Please Provide: Weather-appropriate clothing and shoes, sunscreen and bug spray if needed
